Presented by Maura Brewer and Paul Pescador
Free
Women’s Center for Creative Work presents a one-night screening of new artwork by Maura Brewer and Paul Pescador to take place on Tuesday, February 14th, Valentine’s Day, 2017. The artists will screen two new videos, each responding to an episode of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Using the TV show as site, both videos will take on an ancillary character from the show (Joyce Summers and April the girlfriend-bot), adopting their perspective to look in on the larger narrative of the protagonist Buffy Summers. Brewer and Pescador are interested in producing a conversation about relationships, co-struggle and our current political predicament (on Valentine’s Day.)
This is the second collaboration between Brewer and Pescador. Their first presentation screened on Father’s Day 2016 and examined Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and the relationship between father, son and camera.
Please join us for a night of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Laughter, tears and a signature cocktail to follow.
