Each quarter we are joined by an artist or creative in residence who helps shape the quarterly programming theme while developing a related project of their own. Learn more about the residency program here or scroll down below.
WCCW Residency Details
The goal of the WCCW Residency Program is to bring new voices into the WCCW while supporting people with creative projects that challenge, expand, and deepen the organization’s intersections, topics of focus and audiences. The resident’s project influences the programming theme for the quarter they are in residence.
Residents receive a modest stipend (generally about $1,000), and full-time access to the residency studio space for the three month period of their project (January-March, May-July, or September-November). Most residents use the space as a studio/making space for a portion of the time, and then as an exhibition space for a portion.
WCCW relationships with the resident begin at least one month before the start of the residency to collaborate on and develop the quarter’s themes and some programing in conjunction with WCCW.
Residents are chosen by the WCCW staff, generally 1 year prior to their start dates.
If you are interested in being a WCCW Resident, please submit a letter of inquiry to [email protected]! Residency LOIs should outline:
+ You, your interests and experience
+ A description/proposal for a single project lasting approximately 3 months that could take place anytime in the next year.
Please note that we have residents already schedule through 2019, so any proposals would be for consideration for 2020 at the earliest. The Artist in Residence program is made possible through the support of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
