Feminist Genealogies Workshop

Sunday, April 3rd, 1-5pm
$35 Regular / $25 WCCW Members
Free community tickets available! Email [email protected]

Ever thought, “I wish I knew more about feminism but I don’t know where to start?” Well, have we got the workshop for you! These four jam-packed hours will cover basic timelines of feminist histories in the US; schools of thought and keywords (“intersectionality,” “anarcha-feminism,” and more!); important names and dates; and offer a broad overview of feminist social movements over the last two centuries. We’ll be covering a lot of material, with an inclusive and progressive lens. The format will primarily be lecture-based (with pictures!). You’ll get a consciousness-raising zine, a hand-made journal to help you describe your own personal feminism, a handy bibliography you can use to find out more, and a Feminist Library On Wheels (F.L.O.W.) library card. Lead by Dawn Finley from the Feminist Library on Wheels.

Please bring a small snack for yourself (or to share!) for the mid-point break.

While most WCCW programming is free or donation-based, with no one turned away for lack of funds, we do offer some workshops that have fees associated. This covers materials and allows us to pay the leaders of these workshops for their time and expertise, and to put a small percentage back into WCCW. This income, in addition to memberships, is what lets us keep the doors open and the lights on. We want to make programming as accessible as possible to anyone who is interested though, so we also offer volunteer opportunities and free community tickets to each event or workshop (number varies depending on capacity of the class). Email [email protected] for more info or to find out more about this opportunity for a specific event.
