The 3rd Space Political Action Workshop facilitates communication and visioning to identify a common reality and a way forward politically. The goal of 3rd Space is to give citizens the power to convene and discuss social issues that are important to them without being driven by a Candidate or their agenda. It is a roving town hall that is controlled by citizens, not government officials. This freedom to assemble and share ideas – build consensus or disagree is fundamental to our democracy – in fact, it is where Democracy lives and grows. Come with an open mind and creative ideas for imagining the world you want to live in.

Maria Prichard is the founder and creator of The 3rd Space Political Action Workshop. The 3rd Space began as a response to the 2016 election outcome during Maria’s second semester of graduate school at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in Monterey. Now, it has become a social movement. Maria’s background includes a BA in Political Science from USC, 5 years of nonprofit fundraising and development work for Los Angeles-based nonprofits serving at-risk communities, Yoga Teacher Certifications with a focus on trauma and addiction and in December 2017 she will receive her Masters of Public Administration from MIIS. Maria’s work has led her to discover a bridge between the worlds of mindfulness and service, creating unique projects like The 3rd Space.

Our program costs go directly towards compensation of the instructors and staffers who work the event. We want to make programming as accessible as possible to anyone who is interested, however, so we offer volunteer opportunities in exchange for membership, as well as free community tickets to each program (number varies depending on capacity of the class).
