Taxes Don’t Have to Suck! (Tax Prep for Artists)

Thursday, February 1, 7:30–9:30pm
Facilitated by Caroline Creaghead of Brass Taxes
30 Participants maximum
Free

Just like any other tool in your art practice, a baseline understanding of different kinds of income and work expenses — and their consequences for your taxes — will help you work better and smarter. Understanding why and when you’re taxed frees you up to be more creative!

This talk is for freelancers, artists and anyone who just wants someone to be straight with them about this shit. You’ll have an opportunity to ask any questions you have, like, “Should I form a company?” or “Can I write off my drive to this talk?” and more.

Caroline Creaghead is a brand new arrival in LA, who brings Brass Taxes and her comedy production experience with her. Creaghead worked as an independent producer in Brooklyn, and for several years as a client of Brass Taxes, before she wound up joining the team in 2015. In both these roles, she focuses on helping clear as many hurdles out of the way as she can so artists can do incredible work and get paid for it. She believes we are at our creative best when we are independent and empowered.
