Reading and Discussion of “Homeplace (A Site of Resistance)” by bell hooks

Sunday, Oct 15, 10am-12pm
Organized by Hey Baby Feminist Reading Group
Free

Join us to discuss  the ways that anti-oppression work shows up in the home and parenting through the reading of “Homeplace: (A Site of Resistance)” by bell hooks and companion article from Mother Mag, “Talking to Kids About White Privilege” by Mia Quagliarello.

We will be unpacking how the frameworks and vocabularies that bell hooks creates help us to account for and address our complex and intersecting relationships to power and privilege, visioning the home as a place of active resistance to white supremacy and the creation of loving social connection. Questions? Contact Kristy at [email protected].

This is a family/child centered conversation that is open to folks of all ages including but not limited to parents, caretakers, grandparents… basically anyone that’s making family!
