Open Mic for Muslim Writers’ Collective

Saturday, Apr 8, 5–7pm
Presented by Muslim Writer’s Collective
Free

An open mic welcoming ALL (you don’t have to be Muslim) to engage in storytelling, celebrating our commonalities.

Join us on Saturday April 8th for an evening of dynamic sharing aimed at celebrating culture and creativity in the American Muslim community.

Come meet other artists of color in the LA area, learn about what’s in the works for the Collective, and share your work in a safe space where you can receive constructive feedback and support.

The Muslim Writers Collective is a bold initiative aimed at reclaiming the American Muslim narrative and providing a safe space for current and aspiring writers. Through storytelling, creativity, and culture, we seek to revitalize a vibrant literary tradition among our community.

Our core event is a monthly Open Mic where participants share their writings, stories, and spoken word. We also have numerous member-led initiatives that are in early stages of development, including writing workshops, book clubs, and an urban citizen journalism project.

Founded in January 2014 in New York City, we also have active chapters in the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Houston, and Seattle.
