How can we build stronger ties between neighbors, families and generations? Every Saturday in July, we will look for connections between our communities, histories and generations through sharing individual and community stories about Chavez Ravine, Frogtown, or your neighborhood.

One Mile’s transformational artmaking process uses fun yet thought-provoking story, music & art games to build community, justice and joy. We’ll weave stories with rope, write histories into songs, make sculptures we can wear like homes and use poetry to re-imagine the bridges between ourselves and each other.

One Mile director and founder K. Bradford is an interdisciplinary artist with a rigorous and inventive public practice who has curated a wide array of cultural and humanities based programs, workshops, festivals and public events that tackle critical issues of our times through highly creative and unusually engaging strategies of community engagement. Humanities collaborator Eugene Ahn has vast experience curating humanities projects and innovative arts programs related to visual storytelling, photography, digital media, and social praxis. Bradford and Ahn have a shared pedagogy, social vision and humanities methodology which will create a strong foundation for this project. Visiting artists Clarice Cast (composer/musician percussionist) and Sarah Fylak (composer/sound designer/musician) will record workshop participants’ stories and community dialogues to produce powerful interactive sound environments to create public engagement at the final Beyond the Bridge festival.
