Today women only hold 20% of jobs in animation. In 2006 it was only 16%. The visual effects industry and the motion/design industry boast similar numbers. This workshop aims to overcome this through access to education and solidarity among ourselves. Many studios are looking to hire women to even out their numbers!
If you have a background in design and experience in either Photoshop or Illustrator, After Effects is a powerful tool to add to your arsenal. The animation, visual effects, and new media motion/design industries are blending and After Effects is industry standard for all of them.
In this workshop we will go over the very basics of the After Effects workspace, fundamentals of animation, where to find free resources to continue your education, and group discussions on solidarity and strategies for thriving in male dominated industries.
This workshop is for anyone but is highly recommended that you have experience in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator before jumping into After Effects.
Bring a laptop with After Effects/ the Adobe Creative Cloud on it if you want to follow along on your computer.
