Join members of The Feminist Library on Wheels collective as we read Carmen Boullosa’s novel Before in conversation with selections from Borderlands/La Frontera by Gloria E. Anzaldúa. (We’ll share the selections, chapters 2 and 5 with anyone who’d like to participate. The collection is also available at LAPL; the novel can be purchased through Deep Vellum Publishing.)
We want to read and discuss feminist thought through the widest possible lens, and will be reading a mix of feminist critical theory, history, fiction, poetry—anything that touches on feminist experience and helps us engage with our own feminist practice.
We’ll be meeting monthly, with potluck food to share.
Please let us know if you’d like to join by RSVP-ing here.
The WCCW houses the main branch of the Feminist Library on Wheels, or F.L.O.W., a free mobile lending library. Their mission is to celebrate and promote feminist works, and move them among communities to center marginalized voices and experiences. F.L.O.W. joyfully empowers people to find tools for liberation, making feminism available to all. The library is open to the public and anyone can get a library card! Jenn is in residence every Tuesdays from 10–1pm, and Dawn is in residence every other Sunday, 10am-1pm. Come say hi!
Accessibility information for this event: WCCW has a 36” wide ramp at our front entrance and a stairway with 8 steps and a rail. There are 2 gender neutral restrooms. One restroom is wheelchair accessible, with a handrail. We provide scent free soaps and encourage guests to attend our events scent free. If you require ASL interpretation, CART, interpretation for a language other than English, supervised childcare, or have any other access needs or questions, please contact [email protected] at least two weeks in advance. It is our practice to do everything we can to create a safe and accessible space.
