Her Peace is a one-time support group for trans and cis women and non-binary folks living with or affected by the herpes virus. This event is open to those dealing with either strain HSV-1 (commonly called oral herpes), HSV-2 (commonly called genital herpes), or those in partnership with someone with the virus. This will be an opportunity to come together to empower and inspire one another through experience-based story telling. By sharing knowledgeable self-care tools participants can create and gain personal acceptance of their bodies as well as community assurance. In this meeting we will attempt to cover a multitude of topics including shame; self-care/love/acceptance; visibility and isolation; medical, diet, and food support; speaking about herpes with a partner, family or friends; de-stigmatization in your personal life as well as media.
Katherine is committed to finding ways she can contribute to a more compassion-based health care experience. She believes that personal knowledge shared among individuals holds great power in creating community assurance, regaining personal agency, and strengthening self-determination.
