Mystery Jacket Construction Night

Friday, May 6, 6-9pm
$20 Regular / $15 Members
Hosted by Grace Krendell and Anna Kukla

In this healing arts activity, participants will be asked to bring a jacket for re-purposing. As a group, we’ll fashion and transform these jackets using sewn on materials, fabric paint, and distressing techniques.

As we explore how we energetically invest clothing with certain meanings and powers, together we’ll create a group identity – energy that we can access after we’ve gone home. Through the vehicle of jackets created in intentional space, we’ll experiment with merging the idea of healing, even protective clothing with a collective spirit. As a group, we’ll decide if we want to associate the jackets with a mantra, collective name/banner or some other such collective agreement. At the end of the experience, we’ll take a group photo to celebrate our discoveries and the beautiful jackets we’ve made.

*Participants will be asked to bring a jacket, in addition to any objects/materials that hold personal meaning to them to be used in jacket construction.

Grace and Anna met in their early twenties while working at the same vintage store in Brooklyn. Both share an intuitive connection to clothing and a belief in self-trust when it comes to what styles call out to you. Grace now works as an Intuitive Counselor, using tarot/astrology and other divinatory methods as her medium, while Anna continues to work with clothes as a personal stylist, in addition to work in film/tv/commercials. She also curates her own collection of vintage clothing under the label WORN.

While most WCCW programming is free or donation-based, with no one turned away for lack of funds, we do offer some workshops that have fees associated. This covers materials and allows us to pay the leaders of these workshops for their time and expertise, and to put a small percentage back into WCCW. This income, in addition to memberships, is what lets us keep the doors open and the lights on. We want to make programming as accessible as possible to anyone who is interested though, so we also offer volunteer opportunities and free community tickets to each event or workshop (number varies depending on capacity of the class). Email [email protected] for more info or to find out more about this opportunity for a specific event.
