Creativity Hurdles Workshop with Jibz Cameron

Saturday, October 22nd, 1-4pm
$40 WCCW Member / $50 Regular

This workshop focuses on identifying and untangling various creative blockages that prevent us from accessing our truest most inspired places.  These beasts can take many forms – from blocks that are reinforced culturally to just old crap we carry around with us.  Learn some new tools to get through these thorny SPIRIT blockages and move THROUGH with your ART.

And, as our cups overrunneth with information, ideas, emotions, concepts, visual wonders, memories, passions, politics, – sometimes it is hard to access these gems, let alone shape them into something that can be “seen” clearly.  We will explore writing exercises to get into these conceptual file cabinets and play with what’s in there.

Jibz Cameron is a performance/video artist and actor living in Los Angeles. Her work as alter ego Dynasty Handbag has been presented at international dives both great and small. She has been heralded by the New York Times as “the funniest and most pitch perfect performance seen in years”. She has produced numerous video works and 2 albums  of original music. In addition to her work as Dynasty Handbag she has been seen acting with theater groups and in many comedic web series that remain unpopular. She also works as a professor and lecturer of performance and comedy related subjects.

While most WCCW programming is free or donation-based, with no one turned away for lack of funds, we do offer some workshops that have fees associated. This covers materials and allows us to pay the leaders of these workshops for their time and expertise, and to put a small percentage back into WCCW. This income, in addition to memberships, is what lets us keep the doors open and the lights on. We want to make programming as accessible as possible to anyone who is interested though, so we also offer volunteer opportunities and free community tickets to each event or workshop (number varies depending on capacity of the class). Email info@wccw.us for more info or to find out more about this opportunity for a specific event.
