Free The Voice is a workshop dedicated to Vocal Expression: feeling and understanding the physicality of sound, freeing our minds of preconceived ideas of song, and opening our ears to new forms of sonic composition within ourselves. Both through introspective work and outward playfulness, we will explore the voice as an instrument not limited to conventions of language, but rather able to convey myriad forms of communication. An instrument that radiates from the imagination, from the body and from movement.

Odeya Nini is a Los Angeles based contemporary vocalist, composer, yoga instructor and vocal coach. Her music spans orchestral pieces to solo vocal composition and sound installations. As a teacher she leads people on a journey to embody the voice through pure expression of sound, motion, and emotion, mind/ body awareness, and freeing the voice in a therapeutic manner. She leads sound healing meditation, Voice Baths, at studios and wellness centers internationally, and her solo artistic work has been heard from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv, Mongolia, Madagascar and Vietnam.

Our program costs go directly towards compensation of the instructors and staffers who work the event. We want to make programming as accessible as possible to anyone who is interested, however, so we offer volunteer opportunities in exchange for membership, as well as free community tickets to each program (number varies depending on capacity of the class).
