Do you want to build a website, but don’t know how to start? Has your favorite podcast been advertising Squarespace for years, but you still don’t know where to begin? In this 3-hour workshop, you will start building your own Squarespace website and learn how to use customize and create with the Squarespace Content Management System. We’ll go over (1) the pros and cons of Squarespace; (2) how to register your domain and choose a template, (3) understanding and adding pages, (4) adding words, photos, video, sales items, contact forms and more to your website, and (5) steps to making your website live. This class is perfect for someone who has never set up a Squarespace / Wix / Weebly website before.
If possible, please come to class with a wifi-enabled Laptop and have digital copies of several photos that you might want to include on your website as photos or as background images.
Leanne Pedante is a graphic designer, community organizer, and fitness coach who works in connection: connecting people to their communities, connecting people to their audiences and connecting people to themselves. After finishing her BA in Multimedia Design, Leanne went on to work as both an in-house and freelance graphic designer for over 10 years. In the past 5 years, the website needs of Leanne’s clients have quickly shifted to user-friendly, user-controlled formats like Squarespace and so, Leanne has helped set-up and hand-off many of these websites. In her free time, Leanne enjoys boxing and eating candy.
Our program costs go directly towards compensation of the instructors and staffers who work the event. We want to make programming as accessible as possible to anyone who is interested, however, so we offer volunteer opportunities in exchange for membership, as well as free community tickets to each program (number varies depending on capacity of the class). Email email@example.com for more info or to find out more about these opportunities for a specific event.
